Why damaged hair doesn't need shampoo

The industry sells cleansing. Damaged hair asks for repair — and those are two different jobs.

Every shampoo does one thing well: it strips. It lifts dirt — and the lipid layer that holds the strand together. On healthy hair that layer rebuilds itself. On damaged hair — bleached, coloured, heat-treated — it never catches up.

The strand isn't dirty. It's hungry.

So washing feels like a fix for a day, and the problem returns by the next. The strand isn't dirty; it's hungry. It's missing what heat and chemistry took away: omega-3 lipids, hair-identical peptides, trace elements.

Codex doesn't begin with cleansing — it begins with giving back. The serum lifts the cuticle just enough to receive, the cream rebuilds the cortex from within, the comb seals. Ten minutes that do the opposite of shampoo: instead of stripping, they leave something behind.
